Replacement of screen on Gigabyte Aorus 15P KD screen by LaptopScreen.com

Click here to buy the screen for Gigabyte Aorus 15P KD

Tools

For the replacement process we will need the following tools and items: plastic picks,
a heat gun set of adhesive strips

Shut down the laptop

To begin turn the laptop off and disconnect the power cord.

Remove the bezel

Start removing the bezel. The bezel consists of two parts: wider bottom panel
and narrower part framing the screen on top and on the sides. Separate the bottom part
of the bezel and put it aside. The upper part of the bezel is a u-shaped plastic gasket with
the screen inserted into it. We are going to remove the bezel together with the screen

Remove adhesive strips

The screen is held in place with pieces of adhesive strips. Normally we would be able
to pull out adhesive strips and release the screen. But in our case the adhesive is too old and
fragile. So we have to use a heat gun to soften the glue. Warm up the right, left and top sides
of the back cover. Insert the plastic pick between the screen and the back cover and move it
along the perimeter. Separate the screen and place it on the keyboard.
Cut the remaining pieces of glue

Remove the screen

Peel off the black tape securing the video connector. Stick it to the back cover.
We are going to reuse it later. Disconnect the video cable and remove the screen.
Place it on the desk. Remove the remaining strips of glue. We still have the bezel around
the top, left and right sides of the screen. Release the bezel while removing the pieces
of Kapton tape. We are going to use it with the replacement screen. Discard the old screen

Connect the new screen

Take the new screen, remove the protective film and insert it into the bezel. Secure it with
pieces of Kapton tape. Place the screen on the keyboard. Reconnect the video cable.
Secure it with a piece of black tape. CAUTION! It is very important not to force any
connectors. Also make sure not to twist or slant the connector when plugging it in

Test the new screen

Now we can test the screen. Lift the screen up and lean it against the back cover.
The screen is working and we can finish the installation process

Reinstall the new screen using new adhesive strips

Apply new set of adhesive strips on the inner sides of the LCD panel. Lift the screen up
and apply some pressure to catch the glue. Replace the panel at the bottom of the screen.
Apply some pressure.

Reconnect the power cord. Turn the laptop on, and we are done!
